Mike is a railroad historian from Rogers, Arkansas and currently serves as president of the Arkansas Boston Mountains Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society in Springdale. A native of Rogers, Mike is a graduate of Arkansas Tech University and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike taught at the University of Arkansas for 15 years and developed the Whistle Stops West Elderhostel program – Chicago, St. Louis and Kansas City by rail. Mike lives in Rogers and has 5 adult children and 4 grandchildren. Mike’s family roots are in McLean County where his father grew up along the Illinois Central railroad in Glenavon. Mike’s family lived in Farmer City in the 1940s and 50s.

The Farmer City Genealogical & Historical Society is sponsoring a City Cemetery gravestone renovation seminar September 25 at 10 AM. It’s a blast from the past because we haven’t done one of these since the 90’s in the previous century.
Farmer City native Dennis Murphey put together Farmer City images for our own 2021community calendar. They will make great Christmas presents! They are on sale for $15 each.

The Farmer City Genealogical & Historical Society presents its House Walk Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 1 – 4 PM. Starting point is the Farmer City Museum at 224 South Main Street, Farmer City. The Museum will be open from 12:30-4:30 PM December 8. Buy your ticket there or advance tickets can be bought at the Museum or at K & S Furniture Store. Tickets are available for $5.00.
